Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

One does not review 'In The Aeroplane Over The Sea'. Just looking at this.. Astonishingly beautiful album cover, we see great emotion and timeless lyrics ready to punish our ear drums. Instead of reviewing this Anne Frank filled classic.. The Music Review Database writing staff will say a few words..

"This album takes gritty underground Indie Rock and combines it with basic song structure and basic guitar chords. It's truly a magnificent album and should be heard by every avid music listener. Neutral Milk Hotel are the essential Indie Folk artist."

"While their sound took some getting used to, as I had never listened to lo-fi before, I have found their songs comforting. While some of the subject matter is mature, I enjoy their childish choice of words and sound. This is especially apparent in my favorite song on the album “The King of Carrot Flowers pt. 1”. Even though he talks about parents thinking about killing each other and children touching each other, I find the song extremely cute and youthful. Their childish mentality and sound throughout the album gives me hope that I can be childlike when I am elderly, like Jeff Mangum."
